Paint Technician – Durham

We have a vacancy for a Paint Technician to be part of our amazing team at our site in Durham
Due to the increasing volume of work we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Paint Technician to join our amazing team in Durham.
Main purpose of Job:
- To undertake repair work on all makes of motor vehicles in a safe and economical manner, achieving the highest-possible standards of workmanship.
- To work effectively within the Bodyshop team to ensure industry-leading standards of customer care and satisfaction are achieved at all times.
Key Objectives and Tasks:
- Ensure all job sheet work instructions are clearly read and understood prior to commencing work, and the completed details are recorded accurately and in full, using the bodyshop control sheet and the supplementary parts note.
- Ensure that the appropriate paint scheme paint shop technical repair data is available and used for prep and paint refinishing, as required.
- Ensure all work is carried out accurately and to the highest-possible quality standards, complying with current Health & Safety and Environmental safety legislation.
- Ensure the correct materials and equipment are used on each job and that an excellent standard of housekeeping is maintained within the Spray Booths and the Paint Mix Room, including the accuracy of the Paint Scales and Computer.
- Ensure that preparation, paint scheme paint and material consumables are used sparingly, cost effectively and with the aim of reducing wastage at all times.
- Report any defects immediately in Paint Mix Room, Paint Booth equipment and Smart Repair equipment to the Workshop Controller and/or Director.
- Ensure that the correct protection for customer vehicles and contents is installed and maintained prior to work commencing, including the use of vehicle protection kits, displaced parts trolleys and small part containers.
- Ensure that the assigned work bay area is kept clean and items of displaced materials disposed of at the end of the process in order that another job can be accepted into the work bay; without causing damage to the vehicle or persons, and also at the end of the working shift.
- Meet work in progress deadlines as set by Workshop Controller and/or the Director and company repair process procedures.
- Comply with the company’s BS10125 Vehicle Damage Repair Standard process and requirements.
Experience, Qualifications and Training:
- IMI Senior Paint Technician or NVQ Level 3 qualification preferred, but not essential.
- Thorough understanding through experience or training on the preparation and paint repairing techniques of vehicles to industry standards and customer requirements.
- Ability to manage and administer your time to achieve Company set parameters and efficiencies.
- Up-to-date knowledge of health & safety and environmental legislation and trade practices.
- Able to work within the bodyshop team to achieve objectives and high levels of customer satisfaction.
